The Ackerman Cup

Do you like golf? Are you a Big East fan? Then the Ackerman Cup is for you!

The Ackerman Cup, if it ever gets off the ground again, is an annual pre-basketball season competition between Big East fan bases and individually. The idea is to have a strong contingent from each of the 11 fan bases, have the tournament rotate throughout Big East country…yes even all the way out to Omaha! Ideally, the winner of each cup will host in their team’s city/region (or other location of their choice) in the next year. Ideally, locations with other entertainment options (read: casinos) will be had.

The one edition that was staged to date was an absolute blast, featuring 10 golfers representing St. John’s, Villanova, UConn, Seton Hall, Providence, and Xavier in Connecticut, at Foxwoods’ Lake of Isles Golf Club in 2022. 2023 was scheduled for October at Twisted Dune outside of Atlantic City, and was going to feature golfers from the same set of schools, but unfortunately mother nature won in 2023, and we have been unable to get it off the ground since.

So stay tuned to this blog, we’re hoping to get The Ackerman Cup back off the ground in 2026.
